What is the PTO (Parent Teacher Organization)?
The PTO consists of dedicated parents seeking to enhance the quality of our children’s education through fundraising and positive relations with school administration and staff. Our goals to help support Banks Elementary and the educational needs of each student include:- Help to build staff morale
- Prioritize the students needs
- Be financially responsible
- Encourage positive parent/teacher & staff interaction
- Create school and community unity through fun activities
- Create efficient channels of communication between BES, parents, and the PTO
- Encourage involvement with and inform parents and community about political decisions related to education
- Provide funds for new textbooks
- Purchase classroom electronics (ie. iPads, software programs, etc)
- Host and fund staff appreciation events
- Financially support assemblies and field trips (bussing)
- Purchase curriculum related items for individual classrooms (as requested by teachers)
- Fund many of specialized projects to enhance learning and student interests in the classrooms
- Host fundraisers/events to offset the cost of Outdoor School for 5th graders
- Sponsor family events such as: The Back to School BBQ, Harvest Fest, Free Family Movie Night, the Science Fair, etc.
